About
Fitness Foundations started because I love to see people challenge themselves and do something a bit out of the ordinary. I have been informally coaching people for a while and really enjoy the whole process. At the end of 2009 I suffered an injury. During the rehab time I decided to complete the TriNZ coaching accreditation and coach on a more formal basis. From being coached by some of the most experienced coaches in NZ I found I already had a solid base of knowledge that I could pass onto others.
Fitness Foundations predominantly caters to beginner triathletes. I have coached a variety of athletes from those just wanting to get fit, to a cancer survivor aiming to complete a standard tri, to a solo mum wanting to finish in the top half of her age-group at the Tauranga Half-Ironman. See what some of my athletes have had to say:
“I used to hate running until Anna took me under her wing. She was so encouraging and supportive, and had me running (and enjoying) 10km social events in a matter of months” – Female 35yr old, trained for Run Auckland Series
“I had Anna Ross as my coach for my first Half Iron Man race. Anna gave me a program that worked around my busy lifestyle of a working mother with two kids. After following her program and advice plus her regular encouragement I was able to complete the half iron man six minutes under my target time” – Female 35-39 age group Half-Ironman competitor
“Anna took me for my first ocean swim which I hadn’t even been sure I could do (being afraid of deep water). She helped me through the hyperventilation and nerves that almost had me sprinting for shore. Her continuing support got me out on many swims after that and four months later I completed King of the Bays. Anna is brilliant – she turned me into an ocean swimmer! I love it!” – Maia Blenkinsop, Cook Straight swimmer in the making
